Eleanor Harper Music Scholarship Fund

Founded by husband Robert Harper for children with musical talents and an interest in performance.

Eleanor Harper was one of Frederick’s best-known musicians. She spent most of her life performing and teaching music. She studied voice, organ and music theory at Hood College before moving to New York City. There, she performed at the world-famous Roxy Theater and many other venues before her return to Frederick in 1958. Mrs. Harper’s husband, Robert, started The Eleanor Harper Music Scholarship Fund in his wife’s memory. Given Eleanor’s passion for music, the Fund aptly awards scholarships to children under age 22 who have musical talent and an interest in vocal or instrumental performance.
