Founded by McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond along with his two sons, Philip and William, Jr., to honor Mr. Hammond’s 50-year accounting career. The scholarship assists Frederick County residents with a preference for individuals studying accounting or a related field.

Founded through Mr. Barnhart’s estate to support the church.

This fund is one of three created through W. Eugene “Gene” Barnhart’s estate and which will have a profound impact on others by supporting the activities of the church. Mr. Barnhart, originally from Laytonsville, Maryland, and then Middletown, Maryland, was a farmer for most of his life, followed by a second career as an auto mechanic. He will be remembered and appreciated by countless people who will benefit from his generosity.

William H. and Margaret Lukens Scholarship Fund

Established by Margaret Lukens in memory of her husband, William, to provide scholarships to Frederick County high school graduations seeking careers in visual arts or teaching.

This fund is established in memory of Margaret’s husband, William Lukens, who returned to his love of the visual arts after a 47-year career as an attorney. William had been an avid artist from a very young age, and in his retirement, he rediscovered the joy of painting and the visual arts.

Margaret was a middle school teacher in Rocky River, OH, before she retired. This fund commemorates her chosen career field as well as her husband’s passion. She hopes to provide scholarship support to those who aspire to be teachers or who intend to pursue careers in the visual arts.

William H. and Marianne E. Browning Memorial Scholarship Fund

Founded by son William H. Browning, Jr. for Frederick County residents attending Frederick Community College.

Mrs. Browning graduated from Mount Airy High School and married during her senior year at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). She spent her life as a farmwife and homemaker. She was a charter member of the Kemptown and New Market Homemakers clubs, and the New Market Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was an active member of Kemptown United Methodist Church. She volunteered as often as she could, and even volunteered at the voting polls. Marianne and her husband, William, will be remembered as generous people. The William H. and Marianne E. Browning Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to Frederick County residents who attend Frederick Community College.
