About the Community Foundation

The Community Foundation of Frederick County, MD, Inc. (CFFC) is a 501c3 public charity, and a copy of its financial statement is available by calling 301.695.7660. Information about CFFC submitted under the Maryland Charitable Solicitations Act can be obtained from the Maryland Secretary of State. CFFC does not actively seek donations from outside of Maryland. All information on this website related to seeking donations to CFFC is void where prohibited by law.

Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

The Community Foundation of Frederick County considers the security of its records and its confidentiality regarding donors and contributions to be of the utmost importance. The Community Foundation’s records are never sold, shared or used by other organizations. When a gift is made to a fund, the fund’s founder is notified of the donor’s name and contact information, but not the amount of the contribution. Exceptions to this practice may be made at the donor’s request. Please note that no refunds will be issued after the transaction is completed.

Conflict of Interest Policy

The Community Foundation Board of Trustees is committed to meeting its fiduciary responsibilities including maintaining its duty of loyalty to the Community Foundation and the community it serves. To this end, the Board will exercise vigilance in identifying any conflicts of Interest. The Board will also maintain transparency and objectivity in making decisions about conflicts of interest so that the Community Foundation’s mission is always the first priority.

Nondiscrimination Policy

The Community Foundation follows an equal opportunity employment policy and employs personnel without regard to race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, physical or mental ability, pregnancy, veteran status, military obligations, and marital status. This policy applies to hiring, internal promotions, training, opportunities for advancement, and terminations.

Fundraising Policy

The Community Foundation’s policies and guidelines regarding fundraising for a component fund are intended to ensure a successful outcome for all parties while ensuring that all parties are in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements.

Investment Policy

As part of a sound investment practice, the Community Foundation diversifies its portfolio into many different asset classes and investment vehicles, including mutual funds, separate accounts, and partnerships. These investments can include investments in internationals and real estate to aid in maximizing its investment return in the long term.

Scholarship Program Policy

In administering scholarships, the Community Foundation adheres to the federal requirements for all scholarship funds to maintain the charitable nature of the scholarship program and to guard against any private benefit to individuals associated with the scholarship program.

Social Media Policy

The Community Foundation’s social media presence is maintained by authorized staff. Non-authorized Community Foundation personnel (staff, trustees, volunteers, and committee members) who may possess confidential or proprietary information about the organization may not disclose this information or indicate they are speaking on behalf of the organization on any official Community Foundation social media or personal sites. Social media includes, but is not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, video, wiki postings, chat rooms, personal websites or other similar forms of online journals, diaries, or personal newsletter not affiliated with the Community Foundation.
