When you give through The Community Foundation of Frederick County, you join a powerful network of donors invested in making a difference in our community. For almost 40 years we’ve been a trusted philanthropic partner to help make more possible for the wonderful place we call home.

What we help make possible in our community:

In FY25, we distributed $6.9 million in grants supporting nearly every aspect of life in Frederick County, and $2.4 million in scholarships to local students.

Beautification Projects

We’re making more beauty possible. With grants that plant gardens, restore parks, and enhance shared spaces, we’re helping Frederick County bloom in ways that bring people together and boost civic pride. A beautiful community invites connection, and we make it happen by funding projects that keep Frederick County vibrant and welcoming.

Arts Initiatives

We’re making more creativity possible. The arts are a vital part of Frederick County’s cultural and economic life—enriching our community, inspiring creativity, and bringing people together.  From community theater and public art to music programs and visual arts education, these investments help ensure that creativity continues to thrive and that the arts remain accessible to all.

Animal Wellbeing

We’re making more compassion possible. From shelters that provide safe haven to animals in crisis, to programs that help families keep and care for their pets, our funding ensures that our four-legged friends in Frederick County are treated with dignity and love. We support organizations that rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals, while also protecting the wildlife and natural habitats that make our county so special. These efforts don’t just improve the lives of animals; they strengthen the bonds of empathy and kindness that connect us all.

Substance Use Recovery

We’re making more healing possible. Through programs that provide treatment, counseling, and support, we help individuals and families rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. Our grants fund recovery initiatives that reduce stigma, expand access to care, and strengthen the fabric of our entire community.

Historic Preservation

We’re making more heritage possible. By preserving the landmarks, buildings, and stories that define Frederick County, we honor our past while investing in our shared future. Our grants help local organizations protect historic treasures and keep our county’s rich history alive for generations to come.

Senior Care

We’re making more dignity possible. From home-delivered meals to social programs and health services, we help older adults stay connected, independent, and valued. Our funding ensures seniors receive the care and respect they deserve, because when we care for them, we strengthen the heart of our community.

Basic Human Needs

We’re making more security possible. With funding that provides food, shelter, and emergency assistance, we ensure our neighbors can meet life’s essentials and move toward stability. Every grant we award helps create a Frederick County where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
