J. Milton Brunk Memorial Endowment Fund

Founded by son John D. Brunk as an unrestricted fund.

J. Milton Brunk was originally from Indiana, and his wife Elsie was from Iowa. Mr. Brunk followed his brother Nieman to western Maryland, bringing the couple to the area. In Maryland, the Brunk brothers started working for Baer Brothers in Hagerstown, learning about the produce business. In 1935, the brothers followed their ambitions and bought out Baer’s operations in Frederick and established the Frederick Produce Company to supply local corner stores with fresh produce. This small company grew into a full line food services and goods distributor. In memory of both J. Milton and Elsie Brunk, their son, John D. Brunk, established The J. Milton Brunk Memorial Endownment Fund to support charitable community endeavors.

Brunswick Area Fund

The Brunswick Area Fund was founded by the Honorable and Mrs. William Wenner to provide support for community services and projects in Brunswick, Maryland. As an endowment, the initial gift and all subsequent gifts to this permanent fund are generally never spent, with a portion of the fund used to fulfill the fund’s charitable purpose.

Margaret E. Brust Nursing Scholarship Fund

Founded by Margaret for Frederick County students majoring in nursing.

Frederick native Margaret Brust was well known through the lives she touched as a nurse. After graduating from St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, she worked for many years as a private duty nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Vindabona Nursing Home, yet found time during her career to help organize the first Auxiliary at the Meridian Nursing Center (now College View) and served as its president. Throughout her life, Margaret Brust bettered the lives of her patients, family, and friends with a kind word, skilled hands, and a compassionate heart. Students are awarded scholarships from this fund who are graduates of Frederick County high schools pursuing a post-secondary education in the field of nursing, as well as students currently enrolled in a nursing program.
