Dr. V.E. Gladstone Thompson and Gloria H. Thompson Fund
Founded by wife Gloria and daughter Sonya Thompson to support Asbury United Methodist Church located in Frederick.
Dr. V.E. Gladstone Thompson was born in Trinidad and graduated from Howard University’s Dental School in Washington, D.C. In the 1950s, he made Frederick his home, where he opened a dental office and pursued a 37-year career in the field. He was only the second black dentist in Frederick. In addition to his dental practice, he was an active community volunteer on behalf of the NAACP, Citizen’s Nursing Home and Asbury United Methodist Church. Dr. Thompson served as president of the Frederick County Dental Association and the Human Relations Commission in Frederick. He was a member of the Pro-Duffers Golf Club.
