Brand Refresh

You may have noticed that The Community Foundation of Frederick County looks a little different – our logo has taken on a slightly different feel and we have added some new colors to complement our primary brand colors. We have also redesigned our website to help all members of the community more easily learn about and engage with the Community Foundation.

Why the new look?

The Community Foundation has been a staple in the Frederick County community for more than three decades, and in that time, we have grown tremendously – in the number of people we impact through grants and scholarships and the number of funds we manage. Our refresh is a nod to the past and a look to the future. Change is inherent in what the Community Foundation does, we pivot and evolve to meet the changing needs of the community. Our “brand refresh” better reflects our effort to appeal to and engage with  a range of diverse audiences. Our goal is to honor the tradition that remains at the core of who the Community Foundation is, while at the same time, infuse a fresh, modern look and feel that represents our trajectory forward.

Logo, Colors and Font

Since 1986 the green diamond has been synonymous with The Community Foundation of Frederick County. When folks see the green diamond on mail, they open it and when they see it pop into their inbox, they click. We kept the overall diamond shape to honor tradition and to maintain the brand’s recognition. In line with the organization’s growth and continued expansion into addressing needs across the Frederick County community, we added space between the different sections of the diamond. The green cornerstone remains as an anchor to our history, but we have added two hues of blue to the diamond. As a color, blue symbolizes trust, honesty and authority. The elements of blue in the refreshed logo complement the traditional green – the three colors combined represent our history of being reliable and good stewards of the community’s philanthropic wishes as well as our continuing commitment to being trustworthy and an established leader in the philanthropic sector.  We chose a bolder font that is easier to read and is described in the design community as being warm, dynamic, optimistic and friendly.

The Takeaway

We have refreshed our look but we remain steadfast in our commitment to connecting people who care with causes that matter to enrich the quality of life in Frederick County now and for future generations.
