Two Emergency Shelter Funds Established at Community Foundation

FREDERICK, MD – May 25, 2022: The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs shelters will be supported by two newly established funds at The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

Opened in 2002, the Alan P. Linton, Jr. Emergency Shelter is one of Frederick County’s largest shelters, offering homeless adults a safe place to sleep, shower, and receive laundry assistance. The shelter staff work compassionately with these individuals to become self-sufficient. A separate facility, Emergency Family Shelter will be supported by the second fund, created through Carole J. Benson’s estate provisions to continue the mission of providing temporary housing and services to residents who face homelessness. Ms. Benson was a longtime supporter of the Religious Coalition, and her legacy of helping others will be carried out through the fund for years to come.
