Community Foundation Announces Grants for Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living

FREDERICK, MD – May 14, 2020: The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces nearly $60,000 in grants to support programs and facility upgrades at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living. The grants are distributed through three component funds of the Community Foundation.

The Donald L. Lewis Staff Education Fund for Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living Fund is distributing $27,520.00 to provide tuition reimbursement for career advancement programs for Citizens and Montevue employees. The grant will also support required in-house staff training expenses. Mr. Lewis cared deeply about helping seniors and established this fund with the Community Foundation prior to passing away to support staff training at the two facilities.  

The Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living Fund is providing $14,697.12 for equipment purchases for the Citizens and Montevue facilities. These include a replacement vacuum pump for the respiratory care unit, cordless phones and bases for two units currently lacking this technology, and a mobility/sit-to-stand trainer for the physical therapy department.

The Friends of Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Home Fund is distributing $16,945.12 also for the equipment purchases listed above.

Founded by Charles F. Trunk, III and Donald C. Linton, the purpose of The Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Assisted Living Fund and The Friends of Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center and Montevue Home Fund is to provide support to supplement patient care and enhance the lives of residents of both facilities.
