One of our scholarships that has provided broad impact for students is The Joseph Donald Brewer Scholarship Fund. Founded by parents Abigail Richon and William Brewer, the fund honors the memory of their son Joseph, who passed away in 2002. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to Frederick County graduating seniors who have dyslexia and are pursuing postsecondary education.
It was a little more than 10 years ago when The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Braddock Heights received a big surprise…a $3 million surprise. In 2009, Marybell Everhart left the vast majority of her estate to The Community Foundation of Frederick County to benefit her church and established The Dr. David Everhart, Jr. and Marybell C. Everhart Charitable Fund.
The Community Foundation of Frederick County’s online scholarship application opened yesterday, and for the fifth consecutive year, we are pleased to announce that just over $1 million in scholarships is available to students pursuing post-secondary education or vocational training during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Ramona Remsberg devoted her professional and personal life to the betterment of Frederick County. A pillar in the Frederick community, she completed a distinguished 55-year career in banking and finance at a time when women were not in the field.
