Piano Scholarship Established at Community Foundation

FREDERICK, MD – May 3, 2022: The Fernando Laires and Nelita True Piano Scholarship Fund has been established with The Community Foundation of Frederick County and becomes one of its more than 750 component charitable funds.

This new fund, created through Dr. Nelita True’s estate provisions, will have a profound impact on others as it supports piano students at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, New York, where Dr. True was a professor for more than 30 years.  Dr. True was quoted by Clavier Companion magazine as being “one of the world’s most sought-after and beloved pianist teachers.” Dr. True’s career as a highly accomplished pianist took her to numerous international destinations as well as all fifty United States.  Her achievements as a teacher and artist earned her many awards and accolades over the years.  Dr. True’s legacy and love of music will continue for generations due to her foresight and generosity.
