A Lasting Legacy

When you become a Cornerstone Society member, you are taking a huge step to ensure that Frederick County continues to be a place that future generations will be proud to call home. Your legacy can be defined through grants, scholarships, or both, benefiting the causes that are most important to you.

Recognition

For those who plan to leave a legacy of giving after they are gone by entrusting us with a planned gift, the Cornerstone Society is our way of saying thank you. Annually, all Cornerstone members are invited to a luncheon and are recognized for their generosity. In addition, Cornerstone member names are listed on our website and in the printed annual report. And, should a Cornerstone member wish to remain anonymous, that request is respectfully honored.

How Do I Get Started Creating My Legacy?

We encourage you to visit our Legacy pages which contain a variety of resources that you can peruse at your leisure and in the privacy of your home:

  • Free e-brochures and guides, such as a complimentary guide to creating your will, assists you in gathering information your attorney will need to successfully plan your estate.
  • A planned gifts calculator tool that provides details of various gift types and the possible associated tax savings.
  • Sample bequest language.
  • Complete descriptions and examples of gift types, including a bequest, charitable trust, charitable gift annuity, pooled income fund gifts, estate or retirement plan, life insurance, and more.

The Ramona Corun Remsberg Scholarship Fund

Ramona RemsbergThrough her estate provisions, Ramona Remsberg created The Ramona Corun Remsberg Scholarship Fund to help students studying finance. Since 2005, the fund has provided more than $40,000 in post-secondary scholarships. Mrs. Remsberg's 55 year career with Frederick County National Bank, including serving as president from 1987 to 1993, blazed a trail for women in the finance field.
