Professional Advisor Council

The Frederick County Professional Advisor Council was created in 2009 to provide a resource for charitable giving, education, and networking. All certified and licensed professionals who advise on financial and legal decisions that may include charitable giving are invited to participate.

Who Can Participate?

Attorneys, accountants, trust officers, financial planners, certified life underwriters, investment advisors, and any other certified and licensed professionals working with clients who rely on counsel in gaining maximum tax benefits while fulfilling their charitable intentions.

The Frederick County Professional Advisor Council is a super resource for estate planning professionals. It provides valuable access to professionals in other disciplines, thus supporting a team approach essential to most plans. The educational programs and charitable giving resources are helpful in assisting clients, and I believe membership is a must for every advisor.

What is the Council’s Purpose?

The Council exists to:

  • Increase and encourage advisor referrals of clients with charitable intentions.
  • Provide education about planned giving, philanthropic trends, community needs, and the Community Foundation’s services.
  • Supply materials that advisors may use in discussing charitable giving with clients.
  • Provide networking opportunities.
  • Provide educational opportunities.

Since 2009, a variety of educational programs have been presented and are offered free of charge (including breakfast!) to advisors. Topics have included “A Gift Planning Stimulus Package,” “Social Security and Charitable Giving,” “I Do (or Don’t). The ‘What Ifs’ of Estate Planning for Couples, Married or Not," and “Farm Clients and Their Unique Estate Planning Needs.” Events are usually held annually in the spring. Visit this page for information about upcoming events.

Would you like to be added to our professional advisor mailing and email list? Receive event notices, the quarterly e-newsletter, and other important information about working with clients who are charitable inclined.
