FREDERICK, MD – March 10, 2021: From March 15, 2021 through April 15, 2021, students in grades kindergarten through 12 may apply for financial aid scholarships to attend spring and summer 2021 athletic and sports activities or athletic camps. The scholarships are funded by The Luke Clemens Bartlett Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund and The Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund, two of more than 740 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
The application and details of all requirements may be accessed through the Community Foundation’s website at www.ScholarshipsFrederickCounty.com. Applications must be submitted through the Community Foundation’s online scholarship system no later than 11:59 p.m. on April 15, 2021. Scholarships support participation fees only, and payment will be made directly to the youth athletic organization and/or as a reimbursement to the parent/guardian with proof of payment.
For The Luke Clemens Bartlett Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund, students in grades kindergarten through 12 are eligible to apply. Preference will be given but not limited to applicants playing soccer, as well as those with financial need. Applicants must be Frederick County residents.
Students in grades six through 12 are eligible to apply for scholarships from The Dustin and Courtney Muse Memorial Fund. Applicants must be a Frederick County resident and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

For the fifth consecutive year, just over $1 million is available to students pursuing post-secondary education or vocational training. By completing one general application, students may qualify for more than 250 scholarships. The completed application with required attachments must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Students about to complete their senior year of high school, students already enrolled in a trade school, college or university, and non-traditional students over the age of 21 are eligible to apply. Scholarship criteria are established by the scholarship funds’ founding donors. Some scholarships do not consider financial need. All students are encouraged to apply.

FREDERICK, MD – November 23, 2020: The Community Foundation of Frederick County presents its 34th Annual Report to the Community via video. The video, titled #NothingStopsPhilanthropy, highlights the Community Foundation’s fiscal year 2020 accomplishments and honors some of the community’s outstanding volunteers.
The video highlights how the Community Foundation fully embraced #NothingStopsPhilanthropy in FY2020 by providing $5.4 million in grants and $1.2 million in post-secondary scholarships, while also serving as a leader in responding to the COVID-19 crisis.
In addition, the 2020 Wertheimer Fellows for Excellence in Volunteerism and Youth in Action Award honoree are recognized for their volunteer contributions to Frederick County. Sally Arnold is recognized for selfless volunteerism on behalf of such organizations as Calico Clovers 4-H Club, Frederick County 4-H Camp and Activities Center, and Future Farmers of America. Shari Ostrow Scher is recognized for selfless volunteerism on behalf of Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership, and Daryenne Elizabeth Dorsey is recognized for selfless volunteerism on behalf of Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association and United Steam Fire Engine Company #3.
