FREDERICK, MD – February 26, 2020: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce its scholarship application is available for the 2020-2021 academic year beginning Sunday, March 1, 2020. For the fifth consecutive year, just over $1 million is available to students pursuing post-secondary education or vocational training. By completing one general application, students may qualify for more than 250 scholarships. The completed application with required attachments must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

FREDERICK, MD – February 27, 2020: The Community Foundation of Frederick County is pleased to announce that the online application for The Harold Glen and Audrey G. Benson Trumpower Foundation Scholarship is available beginning Sunday, March 1, 2020. The completed application with required attachments must be submitted online no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. The scholarship is for the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Harold Glen and Audrey G. Benson Trumpower Foundation Scholarship Fund is a component fund of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. Founded by the Trumpower Foundation, the fund’s purpose is to provide scholarships to Carroll County, Maryland residents. The scholarships will support students who exceed the maximum income threshold for government financial aid programs but who still have financial need or lack resources to pay for their education. Scholarships will not replace financial aid packages provided by the government or private sources but will add to or compliment other financial aid sources.
The scholarships are intended to include two-and four-year colleges and trade and technical schools, as well as non-credit certificate programs. These programs include but aren’t limited to assisted living manager, cybersecurity, certified clinical medical assistant, dental assistant, and emergency medical technician, among other areas of study. Preference will be given to students who previously received the scholarship after the first year for up to an additional three years of financial support for a maximum total support of four years, pending the student maintains a 2.0 grade point average or higher and continues to meet the scholarship requirements.

FREDERICK, MD – July 6, 2020: The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces its FY2021 dates for strategic grant applications.
Applications for strategic grants will be accepted July 15, 2020 through August 15, 2020. This grant cycle will allow organizations to apply for program grants to support services related to the Community Foundation’s 2019 Strategic Initiatives.
To apply for funding under the 2019 Strategic Initiatives, applicants must identify project or service outcomes for programs, organizations, or systems that address supporting families with children, preparing for a growing aging population, or responding to substance use disorder.
The FY2021 Strategic Grant Cycle is the first year that the Community Foundation will provide program or operating grants exclusively in support of these initiatives, with prior strategic areas no longer being funded. Projects should focus on continuing or increasing essential services or innovative program development.

To be eligible to apply, an organization must certify it is one of the following and in good standing: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; a government/quasi-governmental agency applying for an extraordinary project that is not funded by tax revenue; a religious organization requesting funding for non-sectarian activities; or a civic group that is not a 501(c)(3) requesting funding for a community cause.
FREDERICK, MD – July 9, 2021: The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces its FY2022 dates for strategic grant applications and information sessions. Funding for these strategic grants is made possible through generous donors who are FY22 Strategic Funding Partners and donors who have contributed to the Forever Frederick County campaign. This campaign began in 2019 following an updated Human Needs Assessment study done to capture Frederick County’s greatest needs. This study created the new strategic areas of focus of supporting families with children, preparing for an aging population, and responding to substance use disorder.
