Strategic Grants​

Mission of Mercy, dental
Mission of Mercy received a grant from The Health Care Strategic Initiatives Fund to provide dental services to people who are uninsured or under-insured.

We fund nonprofits meeting the areas of greatest need in Frederick County through strategic grants. These needs have been identified in The Frederick County Human Needs Assessment Report. Since 2011 when the first strategic grants were made, more than $2.3 million has been invested into these areas.

Currently, we are funding high impact projects that:

  • reduce emergency department visits
  • prevent homelessness and help the newly homeless
  • improve school readiness for young children

The focus of strategic grant funding may change as new data becomes available.

FY2020 Health Care Grantees

In FY2020, a total of $80,940.70 was provided to six nonprofits that provide health care services:

  • The Frederick Center
  • Frederick Community Action Agency
  • Frederick Memorial Hospital
  • Mission of Mercy
  • Partners in Care
  • The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs

FY2020 Children and Youth Grantees

In FY2020, a total of $74,755.00 was provided to five nonprofits that provide programs supporting school readiness:

  • Blessings in a Backpack
  • The Delaplaine Arts Center
  • Family Partnership of Frederick County
  • Housing Authority of the City of Frederick
  • Mental Health Association of Frederick County

FY2020 Basic Human Needs Grantees

In FY2020, a total of $80,940.70 was provided to four nonprofits that provide services for homelessness and housing:

  • Advocates for Homeless Families
  • Frederick Rescue Mission
  • Second Chances Garage
  • Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP)

FY2020 Capacity Building Supporting Preparing for an Aging Population Grantees

In FY2020, a total of $55,632.79 in capacity building support was provided to six nonprofits for aging population programs:

  • Advocates for the Aging of Frederick County
  • Centro Hispano de Frederick
  • Daybreak Adult Day Services
  • Frederick Memorial Hospital
  • Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County, MD
  • Partners in Care

FY2020 Capacity Building Supporting Responding to Substance Use Disorder

In FY2020, a total of $32,006.00 in capacity building support was provided to four nonprofits that provide substance use disorder programs and services:

  • CR Freedom Center
  • Crossed Bridges, LLC
  • Frederick Rescue Mission
  • Mission of Mercy

FY2020 Capacity Building Supporting Families with Children

In FY2020, a total of $87,485.69 in capacity building support was provided to twelve nonprofits that provide programs that support families with children:

  • Asian American Center
  • Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership
  • City Youth Matrix
  • Family Partnership of Frederick County
  • Frederick Rescue Mission
  • Heartly House
